Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with great joy that I sit to write this letter to you, the members
and friends of Community Presbyterian Church. I am honored and humbled
to be called to serve as your Interim Pastor. Over the past couple of
years as I filled in as Pulpit Supply and led worship for you, I knew
that this was a special congregation. I learned that you are open and
welcoming of strangers and neighbors alike, that you care deeply for
each other, your community, and those in need around the world. I was
impressed by your commitment to love God and your neighbor as yourself
and how that showed itself in your generosity and your giving. In
essence, blessed to be a blessing. It is my hope and prayer that my time
with you as your Interim Pastor will be a blessing to you as well. The
next 6 months and beyond will be exciting and challenging and possibly
even trying at times. Yet we know that we can rest and trust in the
of our Lord Jesus Christ to lead us and direct us on our way. These are
exciting times. God has called us to take a step of faith in our journey
together and I can't wait to see where God will lead us!
As we take that step of faith together at Community Presbyterian Church,
please know that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Over the
weeks and months to come, know also that I will be here for you should
you ever need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. My heart and my
door are open. I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know
you all better. When you see me, please don't hesitate to tell me your
name - over and over and over again if necessary - and to share with me
your passion and dreams for this wonderful church. I'd also like to take
a moment to say thank you to the Transition Team for their tireless work
on behalf of CPC and their leadership and prayers throughout the call
process. Your work is greatly appreciated!
God has big plans for us at CPC. I, for one, cannot wait to see how they
unfold! "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we
ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him
be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
for ever and ever!" (Ephesians 3:20-21)
